LeMoine Batson (born August 6, 1898 in Eau Claire , Wisconsin as La Moine H. Batson , † January 30, 1991 in Chicago , Illinois ) was an American ski jumper .
Career
Batson began active ski jumping in 1917 and became a member of the first US Olympic ski team. At the Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix in 1924 , he reached 14th place with jumps over 42.5 and 43.5 m. In 1932 the squad was again taken on, but did not start there. He became first chairman and president in 1939 and 1940 when the Central United States Ski Association was founded. In 1969 he was inducted into the US National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. After his active career, he also worked as a sports teacher at Morton East High School in Chicago. In 1989 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of his home club, Eau Clair Ski Club. At the age of 92, Batson died on January 30, 1991 at Hinsdale Hospital in Chicago.
