Routes to the summit

Valley locations are Ancelle and Chorges near Gap.

From Ancelle, routes start at Parking Rouanne Haute (1640 m) and Le Gourgeon (1460 m), which can be reached via unpaved roads to the east. From the Rouanne Haute car park, a mountain path leads in a south-easterly direction via Clot de Nais (1860 m) and La Chabane (2030 m) as well as the waypoint La Plaine (2040 m) first to the Col de Chorges (2249 m). From there a mountain path leads west to Le Piolit.

The route from Le Gourgeon leads on a mountain path over the waypoints Bois de Mondas (1760 m) and Cabane de la Selle (1990 m) first to the Col de la Pourrachiére (2173 m). From there, Le Piolit can either be reached directly in a southerly direction (unmarked route Bonaparré ) or continue on the marked mountain path, first in an arc to the east over La Plaine and then south over the Col de Chorges.

Another route leads from the Pont du Sapet car park (1640m), which is at the end of a gravel road that branches off the pass road south of the Col de Moissière, over the western flank of the Piolit.
