Lea Massari

Lea Massari , sometimes referred to as Léa Massari , (born June 30, 1933 as Anna Maria Massetani in Rome ) is an Italian actress .

Life

Massari grew up in Spain and France, most recently in Switzerland, where she studied architecture in the early 1950s. She also worked as a mannequin and came to film through the agency of the costume and production designer Piero Gherardi.

From 1954 she appeared as a tender girl in love in several Italian films. She gained international fame through the film by Michelangelo Antonioni, who later became a classic, Playing with Love (1960) as a dreamy Anna who disappears without a trace during a stay on the island.

In the 1960s and 70s Lea Massari acted in numerous Italian and French productions, most of which were set in the world of the upper middle class. In it she embodied mostly loving women. Later she was subscribed to the role of the soulful, understanding mother, for example in Louis Male's incestuous youth film Herzflimmern (1971), which attracted international attention. In 1973, Massari received an Étoile de Cristal for best foreign actress for her complete work . In 1979 she received the Nastro d'Argento of the Sindacato Nazionale Giornalisti Cinematografici Italiani for her supporting role in Francesco Rosi's Oscar- nominated film Christ came only until Eboli .

Lea Massari was a member of the jury at the Cannes International Film Festival in 1975 .
