Ljeanid Sjamjonawitsch Malzau (born August 29, 1949 ) was Defense Minister of Belarus from 2001 to 2009 .

biography

He attended the Suvorov Military School in Minsk , studied from 1967 to 1971 at the General Command School in Kiev , which graduated with honors. Until 1976 he completed his service in the Soviet armed forces in the GDR .

After graduating from the General Staff Academy in 1992, he was appointed First Deputy Commander of a General Army in the Belarusian Military District. He then became the commander of the 28th Army Corps, then Chief of Staff and First Deputy Minister of Defense, and finally, from March 28, 2001, he was Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus.
