Leava is the capital of the Kingdom of Sigave , which belongs to France as part of the French overseas territory of Wallis and Futuna .

location

The village is located in the west of the island of Futuna , which belongs to the Horn Islands in the Pacific Ocean . To the north of Leava is Nuku , in the south there is no other place connected to the position of Leava as the southernmost village of Sigaves. The village extends along the coast on the Bay of Sigave. Next to a church by the sea there is another church a little further away from the sea on a hill.
The Wharf de Leava is the only port on Futuna Island where supply ships dock. This was for 1.8 million CFP francs by the 10th European Development Fund . Due to delays, it should not start until 2016 and the work should be completed in 2017. Since September 2015, only ships weighing 19 tonnes have been allowed to dock. Since the limit was previously 31 tons, there were supply bottlenecks and price increases on Futuna.
