Lebedyn ( Ukrainian and Russian Лебедин , Polish Łebedyn ) is a village in Cherkassy Oblast in the center of Ukraine with about 4600 inhabitants (2001).
The village, first mentioned in writing in 1448, is located on the Turija ( Турія ), a 26 km long tributary of the Welyka Wys 13 km southeast of the district center Shpola and 78 km southwest of the Oblast center Cherkassy . The St. Nicholas Monastery, built in 1779, is located in the village. Lebedyn is the only village in the district council of the same name in the south of Shpola district .

In 1902 the historian and economist Mychailo Herassymenko ( Михайло Петрович Герасименко ; † 1961 in Lviv ) was born in Lebedyn .
