content

Christopher Bohrmann dies two days after his birthday in an accident with a scooter. An angel picks him up and actually wants to lead him into posterity, but Chris has not yet finished his life. In flashbacks, the viewer learns how Chris lived, as an observer he experiences the processing of grief in his circle of friends and he is also given a view of the world without Chris.

premiere

Life without Chris was written especially for graduates of the Berlin University of the Arts , where the author and director Peter Lund is a professor. The premiere took place due to a long-standing cooperation between the UDK and the Neukölln Opera . The world premiere took place there on April 2, 2009.

Austrian premiere

On May 31, 2012, "Leben ohne Chris" will celebrate its Austrian premiere in Vienna . Under the direction of Jürgen Kapaun, the musical is produced by the musical company EMDIS STAGE in co-production with students and graduates of the Vienna Conservatory .

Reviews

Life without Chris received an extraordinarily friendly to euphoric reception in the review . The Berliner Zeitung spoke of a "great success". The Tagesspiegel compared author Peter Lund with Gilbert and Sullivan and the librettists of Jacques Offenbach . The Berliner Morgenpost called the mixture of flashbacks and visions of the future "brilliantly successful". Neues Deutschland praised the "wonderfully evil dialogues, great music and rousing dance scenes".
