Lee Rowley

Lee Benjamin Rowley MP (born September 11, 1980 in Chesterfield ) is a British politician . He belongs to the Conservative Party and is a supporter of Brexit .

He has represented the constituency of North East Derbyshire in the House of Commons since 2017 . Before Rowley won the seat for his party, this was represented by members of the Labor Party since the British general election in 1935 .

Career

Rowley was born the son of a milkman in Chesterfield, Derbyshire , and worked in the family business. He studied history at Lincoln College, Oxford and the University of Manchester . He then worked in financial and management consultancy for Barclays , KPMG , Santander UK and Co-op Insurance .

After serving on Westminster City Council , Rowley began preparing to be elected to the House of Commons.

Rowley was one of the opponents of Theresa May's negotiated deal in the course of the UK's exit negotiations .

Rowley is openly gay .
