Leerßen belongs to the district of Gessel of the city of Syke in the Lower Saxony district of Diepholz .
The place is in the Wildeshauser Geest nature reserve between the core area of Syke and the Syker district of Ristedt . The district road K 122 runs through Leerßen .
Until 1974 Leerßen was part of the previously independent municipality of Gessel - since then it has belonged to the city of Syke.
Ecclesiastically, Leerßen belongs together with Gessel , Ristedt (Syke) , Barrien , Okel and Osterholz to the parish of Barrien.
Attractions
- From Leerßer Berg ( 54.4 m above sea level ) you have a wide view of the Hachetal to the east .
- In the summer of 2010 , a 13 m high observation tower was built on the "Hohen Berg" ( 58.2 m above sea level ), the highest point around Bremen , which significantly extends the all-round view. On a clear day you have a beautiful view of the Weser Valley and Bremen.
- Under protection standing Schlatts are the Leerßener Schlatt Schlatt and in Leerßens moorland.
- The war memorial in Leerßen on "Leerßer Straße" contains the names of 11 fallen and missing persons from the First World War and the names of 19 fallen and 8 missing persons from the Second World War .
