Leerßen belongs to the district of Gessel of the city of Syke in the Lower Saxony district of Diepholz .

The place is in the Wildeshauser Geest nature reserve between the core area of ​​Syke and the Syker district of Ristedt . The district road K 122 runs through Leerßen .

Until 1974 Leerßen was part of the previously independent municipality of Gessel - since then it has belonged to the city of Syke.

Ecclesiastically, Leerßen belongs together with Gessel , Ristedt (Syke) , Barrien , Okel and Osterholz to the parish of Barrien.

  • From Leerßer Berg ( 54.4  m above sea level ) you have a wide view of the Hachetal to the east .
