Leggett is a defined area for statistical purposes ( census-designated place ) in Mendocino County in the US state of California .
geography
The place is 12 kilometers east of the coast of the Pacific Ocean and 50 kilometers north of Fort Bragg . Leggett is bounded to the west by the Eel River . The US Highway 101 , which in this section also Redwood Highway is called tangent Leggett in the East.
history
The area's indigenous people were Indians , who sometimes waged serious conflicts with the settlers, with fatalities on both sides. On the other hand, the Indians also helped the settlers cross the country and traded with game and other products.
