The Leichberg has a summit height of 324.9  m above sea level. NN . It is located in the northern part in the district of Oesterbehringen in the Wartburg district , the southern part belongs to Nessetal , Gotha district . The mountain thus marks in sections the border between the district of Gotha and the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

The Leichberg is located on the border between Hainich and the Thuringian Basin on the edge of the Nesse Valley near Friedrichswerth, the Oesterbehringen district of the Hörselberg-Hainich community .

On the striking Leichberg, which is also known as the Leuchtberg, an early historical cult site is said to have been. The area around the mountain is rich in archaeological finds. A memorial was erected on the summit of the mountain for the Reich Chancellor Prince Bismarck in 1896 . The memorial was restored in 2009.
