Leif Ostling

Leif Östling (2012)

Leif Östling (born September 25, 1945 in Luleå , Sweden ) is an automobile manager and a former member of the Volkswagen commercial vehicle board . He is a board member of several other companies and organizations such as SKF , ADR-Haanpää Oy, Svenskt Näringsliv (Swedish Employers' Association), Teknikföretagen (Association of Swedish Engineers) and ISS.

Life

Leif Östling completed his engineering degree at Chalmers Technical University .

In 1972 Leif Östling became an intern at Scania and worked his way up to the top of the company in the following years. 1983 to 1989 he was Managing Director of the company in Holland. In the spring of 1989 Leif became chairman of Scania, at that time still part of the Saab-Scania company . Just one year later, he became Vice President of Saab-Scania and, from 1994, President and CEO of the now independent company Scania AB . In 2003 he received honorary doctorates from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and the Luleå University of Technology .

In September 2012, Leif Östling joined the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG for the Commercial Vehicles Group. At the beginning of March 2015, Östling surprisingly resigned from office.
