Leif Uvemark

Leif Uvemark (* 13. March 1939 in Malmo , † 24. April 1996 ) was a Swedish trumpeter and bandleader , who as a soloist , especially in the light music became known.

From 1957 until his death in 1996, Uvemark directed the Leif Uvemark Big Band . In 1958 he and his orchestra won the competition for dance orchestras from Radio Sweden and was able to place in the hit lists several times in the following years. He also played for 1 year with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra and 2 years for the Swedish Radio Entertainment Orchestra in Stockholm. In 1968 he was signed by the NDR and from then on played for Germany's leading orchestras. In 1970 he joined the James Last Orchestra , where he was principal trumpeter alongside Lennart Axelsson for several years . In addition, he also recorded records as a soloist. He also occasionally worked as a soloist for the Kai Warner orchestra , Werner Twardy and Harry Arnold ( Guest Book ). In the field of jazz he was involved in ten recordings between 1957 and 1977.
