The Leine-Deister-Zeitung is a daily newspaper published by the newspaper publisher F. Wolff & Sohn . It appears in Gronau, Lower Saxony, from Monday to Saturday with a print run of 4,800 copies. It is the most widely read daily newspaper in its area of distribution : the city of Gronau, the old district of Gronau and the Leinebergland community .

history

The Leine-Deister-Zeitung was founded in 1873 by the publisher Franz Wolff in the Gronau district in the Prussian province of Hanover as the official district paper. The publication frequency was initially twice, from 1892 three times (Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays) a week. During the Second World War, in 1943, the publisher stopped publishing and then reissued the newspaper six years later, in 1949. From April 1, 1954, the newspaper appeared four times a week (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays). With the commissioning of a rotary press and modern typesetting machines, the newspaper has been published every day except Sundays since March 1962. The publishing house had a full editorial team until the 1970s.

Sale to Ippen and modernization

In 1977, the then publisher sold the publisher including the rights to the newspaper to the major Munich publisher Dirk Ippen . The Ippen Group modernized the technical production, revised the layout and concentrated the editorial focus of the newspaper on the local and the region. Supraregional pages were supplied as cover pages by the central editorial office in Munich . This resulted in a circulation of around 5,000 pieces.

Edition

Like most German daily newspapers , the Leine-Deister-Zeitung has lost circulation in recent years . The circulation sold has fallen by an average of 2% per year over the past 10 years. Last year it decreased by 3.8%. It is currently 4396 copies. The share of subscriptions in the circulation sold is 93.7 percent.
