Leland Erskin Cunningham (born February 19, 1904 in Wiscasset in Maine , † May 31, 1989 in Richmond (California) ) was an American astronomer and asteroid explorer.
Between 1951 and 1952 he identified a total of four asteroids at the Mount Wilson Observatory ( IAU code 672) in California .
He also discovered the non-periodic comet C / 1940 R2 (Cunningham) .
The asteroid (1754) Cunningham was named after him.
