Lena Zelmel (born June 27, 1993 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a former German handball player who was active in the Bundesliga .

Career

Zelmel started playing handball at 1. FSV Mainz 05 . With the B-youth, the outside player took 3rd place at the German championships in 2009. In the same year, the right-hander joined the DJK / MJC Trier . In the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons she played for the women's team from Trier in the Bundesliga. After Trier was relegated from the Bundesliga in 2013, she returned to the second division club 1. FSV Mainz 05. In February 2014, Zelmel moved to Bundesliga club Buxtehuder SV . In 2015 she won the DHB Cup with Buxtehude . In September 2017, she announced her end of career after her third cruciate ligament tear . Zelmel scored 68 goals in 45 Bundesliga games for Buxtehude.
