Urszula Pontikos

Urszula Pontikos (born June 28, 1975 in Gdynia ) is a Polish film director and camerawoman .

Life

Urszula Pontikos was born in Gdynia, Poland in 1975 and graduated from the National Film and Television School near London.

Pontikos made her directorial debut in 2008 with the short documentary China's Wild West , in which she was also a camerawoman. For the first time, Pontikos acted as camerawoman for a feature film at the 2011 Film Weekend , which she presented at the South by Southwest Film Festival . The film Lilting , for which Pontikos received the Cinematography Award, was shown at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival . In the same year she directed the film Second Coming with Debbie Tucker Green with Idris Elba and Nadine Marshall in the leading roles. In 2015, Pontikos received an invitation from the British Society of Cinematographers .

In late June 2018, Pontikos became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .
