Doungou Camara (born January 7, 1995 in Pontault-Combault , France ) is a French - Senegalese handball player who plays at Le Havre AC Handball in the highest French league in women's handball. Camara is also the captain of the Senegalese national team .

Career

Camara played in the first division team of Issy Paris Hand from 2013 to 2017 and won the French runner-up in her first two seasons in 2013/14 and 2014/15. With her club, she also reached the final of the French women's handball cup ( La Coupe de France de handball féminin ) in the 2013/14 season, which was lost to CJF Fleury Loiret on May 24, 2014 at 18:20 .

In March 2017 it was announced that she was moving to Le Havre AC Handball for the 2017/18 season.

At the international level, the backcourt player reached the finals of the EHF Women's Challenge Cup 2013/14 with Issy Paris Hand in May 2014 . In the first and second leg, the French were very narrowly defeated by the Swedish representative H 65 Höör due to the away goals rule (total score 42:42).

Camara played several internationals for the French junior selection. She is now a member of the Senegalese women's national handball team , with which she won bronze at the 2015 African Games .

At the African Women's Handball Championship in 2016 , Camara first reached the semi-finals with Senegal, which they won against Tunisia 26:20 . However, Tunisia successfully protested against the rating of this game, as Camara had played for France in the 2014 U-20 women's handball world championship in 2014 and the three-year ban for national teams had not yet been completed. As a result, both Camara and the Senegalese team were disqualified.
