Lennart Samuelsson

Lennart Samuelsson (born July 7, 1924 in Borås , Sweden , † November 27, 2012 in Borlänge , Sweden) was a Swedish football player and coach .

career

Player career

After Samuelsson played for several small clubs in his hometown, he moved to IF Elfsborg in 1947 , where he made his debut in the Allsvenskan . In 1950 he moved to OGC Nice for one season , with whom he became French champion in 1951. He then returned to IF Elfsborg in Sweden.

Samuelsson has been the Swedish national team 36 times . He took part in the 1950 World Cup, where he was third in the national selection. After moving to France, he was no longer considered a professional player. After his return to Sweden in 1951, he received amateur status again and was thus eligible to play at the 1952 Olympic Games and won bronze with the team.

Coaching career

After the end of his active career, Samuelsson moved to the coaching bench. His first engagement led him to IFK Luleå in Division 2 . In 1963 he went to IK Brage , with whom he was promoted to Allsvenskan in 1965. He later left the club and went to league rivals Örebro SK . Until 1970 he looked after the club in the first division and returned to IK Brage. He worked there until 1973.

Later he was employed by the city of Borlänge . He died there on November 27, 2012 at the age of 88.
