The Lentpark is a combined ice rink and swimming pool in Cologne . It was completely rebuilt in the same place from 2009 after the old ice and swimming stadium in Cologne was demolished and opened on October 1, 2011. Overall, the building has a gross floor area of more than 12,000 square meters. The design comes from the architectural office Schulitz + Partner in Braunschweig. Like Lentstrasse, Lentpark was named after Eduard Lent .

Ice rinks

In addition to an ice rink with an area of 1,800 m², which is reserved for sporting activities such as ice hockey , figure skating , in some cases for public ice skating, as well as special events, there is a 260 meter long and 8 meter wide elevated ice rink on the upper floor , which runs through all areas of the Building and can therefore be used by the public for ice skating regardless of the weather .

The ice hockey home games of the Cologne EK of the German Sledge Ice Hockey League take place on the ice rink .

Bathing area

A modern indoor pool was also integrated in the Lentpark . This has a 25-meter pool , a teaching pool and a separate children's area. In addition to public bathing, school and club sports also take place here. The outdoor pool area with a 50-meter swimming pool, water slide and children's pool was opened on May 12, 2012. It was designed as an ecological swimming pond system. As the last construction phase, a sauna area was opened in autumn 2012. The operator is a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Köln with the name "KölnBäder GmbH".

Awards

The Lentpark was presented by the architects' association german-architects in a special article "Construction of the week". This building is the first ice rink in Europe to be included in the EU's green building program .
