The German Para-Ice Hockey League ( DPEL ) (previously: German Sledge-Ice Hockey League, DSL) is the top division in German para-ice hockey . Regular league matches have been taking place in Germany since the 2000/01 season . With the exception of the 2007/08 season , in which Kamen Barbarians won the championship, the Hanover Scorpions , which were also founded in 1994 as the first sledge ice hockey team in Germany, became German champions every year . You have been playing as Ice Lions Langenhagen since 2008 . In the 2012/13 season again another team who could Cologne EK , win the championship.

With the renaming of the sport to Para-Ice Hockey 2017, the league was also renamed the German Para-Ice Hockey League.

At the moment (2018) four teams belong to the game operation, the season takes place from about October to March of the following year. The teams compete against each other in two home and two away games, so that ultimately 12 game days are played. In contrast to the Paralympics , both handicapped and non-handicapped players may take part in the game.
