ASV Dachau

The ASV Dachau is a sports club with the departments of American football, boxing , ice skating , soccer , health Sport, Gymnastics , Handball , Judo , Ju-Jitsu , athletics , bowling , skiing and mountain sports, tennis and volleyball . The club, whose official name is General Sportverein Dachau e. V. is, was founded in 1908 and currently has around 3,200 members.

American football

The American Football Department is called Dachau Thunder and was accepted into the ASV Dachau at the general meeting on November 20, 2017. The head of department was then elected on December 14, 2017. The American Football Department starts its first season in the development league of the American Football Association Bavaria (AFVBY) in 2018.

The Dachau Ice Sports Club was founded in 1947. 1955 followed the connection as a department to the ASV Dachau. After many years of membership in the regional league, he was promoted to the Bavarian League in the 1988/89 season . However, the immediate relegation followed. In autumn 1995 a syndicate with the ESC Munich was founded in the regional league, but it did not last long. Until 2015/16 the ASV Dachau Woodpeckers were a member of the - sixth class - Bavarian district league. From the 2016/17 season onwards, the members of the ice hockey department joined the newly founded ESV Dachau Woodpeckers .

ESV Woodpeckers has been building a para-ice hockey team since around 2016 , which has been participating in the German Para-Ice Hockey League as a syndicate since 2018 .

Handball

The handball department was founded in 1927. Immediately after the Second World War , the ASV was one of the first clubs to start playing again and was able to establish itself as a top team within Bavaria. The ASV has always been successful, especially in youth work. The greatest successes in the 1990s are reaching the final of the Bayern Cup and promotion to the top division in the 1997/98 season of the women's team. In the 2003/04 season, the women's team played for the first time in the Regionalliga Süd, but could not avoid immediate relegation to the Bayern League.

However, the ASV got into difficulties for financial reasons. After a change and the relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga, the immediate promotion to the Bundesliga was achieved. After renewed financial problems, he was forced to relegate to the regional league in 2002. After two promotions, the 1st men's team played in the 1st Bundesliga in the 2004/05 season , but rose again. She has been playing in the 2nd Bundesliga since the 2005/06 season.

The first women's team played after relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga from 2004 to 2007 in the regional league.
