Leoš Kalvoda (born March 26, 1958 in Brno ) is a former Czech soccer player and current soccer coach .
Player career
Kalvoda played for Babice nad Svitavou and Zbrojovka Brno in his youth . He did his military service in Tábor . He then played three years for Spartak PS Přerov before spending most of his career from 1982 to 1990 at Sigma Olomouc, for which he completed a total of 180 first division games, in which he scored 17 goals.
In 1990 the defensive player went to Austria for SV Sigleß, in 1994 he returned to the Czech Republic and ended his career after a season with Baník Ratíškovice .
Coaching career
Sigma Olomouc
Kalvoda began his coaching activity as an assistant at Sigma Olomouc . From 1997 to 1999 he was the head coach of the B-team before he was again assistant coach for the professionals in the 1999/00 season. For the 2000/01 season he moved to the post of head coach and achieved an excellent third place with the team. After a failed start to the 2001/02 season, he resigned from his post in October 2001.
MŠK Žilina
During the winter break he took over the Slovak club MŠK Žilina , which he led to the championship. After a poor start and failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League at FC Basel , he was fired.
SK Hradec Králové
In early 2003 Kalvoda took over the relegation-threatened SK Hradec Králové in the Gambrinus League , but could no longer prevent its fall. He started the 2003/04 season with the goal of promotion, but the club separated from him in September 2003.
1. HFK Olomouc
In March 2004 Kalvoda was coach at the second division 1. HFK Olomouc, initially together with Vítězslav Kolda. The coaching duo could no longer achieve the target relegation. Kalvoda, now solely responsible, succeeded in immediately returning to the professional position. The team reached sixth place in 2005/06, in the 2006/07 season they played for a long time for promotion to the first division and ended up third. During the winter break, Kalvoda moved to league rivals 1. FC Slovácko .
1. FC Slovácko
In January 2008 Leoš Kalvoda succeeded Pavel Malura at 1. FC Slovácko, with the aim of bringing the then league leaders back to the Gambrinus League. He was released after just a few months.
MFK Karviná
From the 2008/09 season Kalvoda trained the second division MFK Karviná .
