Pavel Malura (born December 24, 1970 in Ostrava ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach .

Player career

Malura started playing football at the age of ten with TJ Vítkovice Svinov. He ended his career at the age of 19 and devoted himself to the profession of coach.

Coaching career

Pavel Malura made a name for himself as coach of the juniors of Baník Ostrava , where he led players such as Václav Svěrkoš , Michal Papadopulos or Milan Baroš to the first team. This was also noticed by the Czech association , Malura took over the country's U16 selection in 2001. In the 2003/04 season he coached the B-team from Baník Ostrava consisting of numerous young players in the third Czech league MSFL.

In the summer of 2004, Malura got an offer from the Polish first division club Pogoń Stettin , but was dismissed after two opening defeats, a 1: 2 against Legia Warsaw and a 0: 4 at Górnik Zabrze . Malura took over the second division side Viktoria Žižkov in the summer of 2005 with the aim of leading them into the Gambrinus League . In April 2006, when the team finished in a disappointing eighth place, he was released from his duties.

In the following season he was first assistant to Jiří Plíšek at 1. FC Slovácko . When he resigned in November 2006, Malura took over the post of head coach, but could no longer prevent the team's relegation. He stayed in the club with the requirement to bring it back to the first division immediately. Although he stood with his team in the first place in the table after the preliminary round 2007/08, he was dismissed.

In the second half of the 2007/08 second division season, Malura coached FC Hradec Králové , and the team only narrowly missed promotion to the Gambrinus League. For the 2008/09 season Malura took over the coaching position at the Slovak first division club FC Nitra , but was dismissed at the end of September.
