Leo Fischer (entrepreneur)

Leo Fischer (born July 6, 1933 ; † March 21, 2009 in Lucerne ) was a Swiss entrepreneur.

Fischer grew up in Neuhausen am Rheinfall and completed an apprenticeship as a radio and television technician. After attending the evening engineering school in Zurich, he continued his education in the USA and at the St. Gallen Commercial College. In 1962 he started his own business and in 1964 set up Europe's first broadband cable television system in Lucerne . The Swiss color television premiere took place there in 1967 . In 1997 he sold his company to Cablecom , of which he was Chairman of the Executive Board and Delegate of the Board of Directors .

In 1995 he ran for the Swiss People's Party in the canton of Lucerne for the National Council and ended up behind the elected Josef Kunz in the first place.
