Leo sale

Leo sales (born November 28, 1858 in Lviv ; † December 30, 1933 in Vienna ) was an Austrian-Galician lawyer, specialist author and parliamentarian.

Life

Sales was the son of Isak Sales and his wife Judith, née Weinberg. In Lviv (Lemberg) he attended the upper secondary school and then studied law in Vienna. In 1888 he received his doctorate, from 1887 he was a lawyer and later a consultant .

Professionally, he was primarily involved in the field of social insurance in the Association of Cooperative Health Insurance Funds , for which he worked for years. He supported workers in legal matters and advocated health insurance for workers. Sales also wrote numerous specialist books, brochures and articles. In 1897 he became a member of the Reichsrat for the Social Democratic Workers' Party (SDAP) , but left after the 1901 election . After he ran again as a candidate for the Reichsrat in 1907, but was not elected, he fell out with the SDAP. Sales continued his extensive professional writing activities, for example in the " Arbeiter-Zeitung " or in the publication of the "Austrian Yearbook of Workers Insurance ". He also held minor posts in social security.

Leo Sales had been with Maria Josefa, born in 1918. Schott, married.

His private library, in which he had primarily collected literature from the fields of socialism , labor movement , social policy, social law and economics, was initially loaned by his widow in 1946 to the social science study library of the Chamber of Employees and Workers in Vienna . It comprised around 1150 volumes and thus formed the basis of the library of the Chamber of Labor, which was rebuilt after 1945.
