Leo Nikolaus von Hibler zu Lebmannsport (born December 18, 1884 in Sillian , † November 20, 1956 in Vienna ) was an Austrian English student .

Life

From 1903 to 1908 Hibler studied English Philology at the Universities of Innsbruck, Oxford and Paris. He received his doctorate in English Philology at the University of Innsbruck in 1908 , after which he worked as a secondary school teacher in Marburg (Styria) until 1928 . 1914 to 1928 he was lecturer for English at the Technical University of Graz , 1921/22 lecturer for German at University College London . In 1925 he completed his habilitation in English language and literature at the University of Graz . From 1928 to 1929 he was ao. Professor for English Philology at the German University of Prague , 1929 to 1932 o. Professor for English-American business language and economics at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management . Then he taught from 1932–1936 as a professor of English language and literature at the Technical University of Dresden , but remained an honorary professor for English-American business language and economics at the Leipzig University of Economics from 1932–1945. Hibler signed in November 1933, the commitment of the professors at German universities and colleges to Adolf Hitler and was a member of NSLB since 1934. In 1936, he was due to lack of membership in the NSDAP forcedly emeritus .

In 1946 he became a professor for English-American business language and economics at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management, 1946–1948 at the University of Leipzig and from 1948–1954 professor for English philology at the University of Vienna .

He is buried in the Innsbruck-Mühlau cemetery.
