from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Leon Anemas ( Middle Greek Λέων Ἀνεμᾶς ) was a conspirator against the Byzantine Emperor Alexios I.

Leon Anemas was probably the second oldest of four brothers, only one other, Michael , is known by name. On his father's side, he was a cousin of Johannes Komnenos , a nephew of Emperor Alexios I. In 1103 , Leon participated in a large-scale conspiracy aimed at overthrowing Alexios I. However, the plot was exposed prematurely by an informer. Leon was arrested with his brothers, tried as a traitor and brought before the public in a procession of shame on the Mese in Constantinople. His further fate is unknown.
