Leonard Fournette (* 18th January 1995 in New Orleans , Louisiana ) is an American American football poker players in the position of running backs . He is currently a free agent and most recently played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected fourth by the Jaguars in the 2017 NFL Draft and previously played college football at Louisiana State University (LSU).

High school and college

Fournette attended St. Augustine High School and was active in addition to football over the sprint distances in athletics. As a junior he was able to run 2,135 yards in one season and achieve 31 touchdowns. Commonly valued as one of the greatest talents in the running back position, Fournette accepted the offer to play for the LSU college . In his college days, he was able to prove his potential again, ran a total of 3,830 yards and scored 40 touchdowns. In the 2016 season, he was considered a co-favorite for the Heisman Trophy , which honors the best college football player. Due to several minor injuries, he could not play the entire season and had to end his season early. On December 5, 2016, Fournette announced that he would participate in the 2017 NFL Draft . Many experts saw Fournette as one of the best running backs of this draft year.

NFL

In the 2017 NFL Draft , he was finally elected fourth and first running back by the Jacksonville Jaguars . On May 17, he signed his rookie contract for four years and 27 million dollars .

In his first professional season in 2017 , he scored 1,040 running and 302 receiving yards and a total of 10 touchdowns. In particular in the 30: 9 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 5, he showed an outstanding performance with 181 yards. He set a new Jaguars franchise record with his 90-yard touchdown run in the final quarter. It reached a top speed of over 35 kilometers per hour.

The 2018 season was overshadowed by injuries; Fournette only played 8 of the 16 regular season games. The negative climax was a suspension after fights in the game against the Buffalo Bills in week 12. At the end of the regular season there were only 439 running and 185 receiving yards.

On August 31, 2020, Fournette was released from the Jaguars.
