Leonardo Bazzaro

Leonardo Bazzaro (born December 13, 1853 in Milan , † November 2, 1937 there or in Miazzina ) was an Italian painter.

Life

Bazzaro studied with Gaetano Fasanotti and at the Accademia di Brera , where his younger brother Ernesto was trained. Giuseppe Bertini was one of his teachers there . The first pictures with which he emerged were still conventionally shaped: Interno della Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio in Milan and Veduta interna della Chiesa di Sant'Alessandro in Milan . In the 1870s and 1880s, he found his own naturalistic style. The main motifs were nature and rural life, for example in Gignese . He also dealt with harbor scenes, which he captured in Chioggia , for example .

Works by Bazzaro can be found e.g. B. in the Museo del Paesaggio, the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna di Roma, in the Collezioni della Provincia di Milano, in the Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Torino, in the Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna di Genova, im Museo Internazionale d'Arte Moderna Ca 'Pesaro di Venezia, in the Galleria d'Arte Moderna Ricci Oddi di Piacenza, in the Civico Museo Revoltella di Trieste and owned by the Fondazione CARIPLO in Milan.

Bazzaro presented during his lifetime often made, including in the period from 1897 to 1932 regularly at the Biennale in Venice . In 1914 he had a single room here. The last exhibition after his death was for a long time the retrospective in the Galleria Guglielmi in 1941; an exhibition of his works apparently followed in 1998.
