Leonhard Froese
Leonhard Froese (born February 9, 1924 in Zaporozhye on the Dnepr , Ukrainian SSR ; † December 9, 1994 in Marburg ) was a German educationalist .
Froese, who belonged to the Mennonite Church , headed the Department of Education at the Philipps University of Marburg with a focus on comparative education , historical pedagogy and educational policy . In the academic year 1969/70 he was rector of the Philipps University.
He was the founder and head of the Research Center for Comparative Education. From 1968 he was President of the German Pestalozzi Society. Froese was politically active in the FDP , for which he ran unsuccessfully in the 1969 federal election in the constituency of Marburg and on the Hessian state list.
