Leonhard Leeb (born January 17, 1962 ) is an Austrian trumpeter , author and composer .

Life

Leonhard Leeb received his first artistic training at the Feldkirchen Music School with Alois Vierbach and at the Carinthian State Conservatory with Rudolf Hermann. At the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna he studied trumpet with the international trumpet soloist Carole Dawn Reinhart and with Josef Pomberger, principal trumpeter of the Vienna Philharmonic . The direction for his further artistic development was given by master classes with Maurice André and Ludwig Güttler. He completed his studies with Arturo Sandoval , Edward Tarr and Friedemann Immer. Leonhard Leeb appeared as a soloist at the Austrian music festivals Bregenz Festival , Carinthian Summer and the Festival Wiener Klassik. He played the first trumpet in the orchestra on tours with the Berlin Wind Ensemble, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra of New York and with the Moscow Virtuosos (under Vladimir Teodorowitsch Spiwakow ). The Trumpets In Concert ensemble he founded has performed since 1999 a. a. at the Proms at St. Jude’s festivals or the Bregenz Festival. Leonhard Leeb plays Yamaha trumpets . He lives in Vienna.

He is the patent holder of a device to make the pressure in the body of the blower aware ( blowing pressure ) or to visualize the pressure of the air flow in the wind instrument.

Ensemble activity and world premiere

Leonhard Leeb set accents in the development of artists with his ensembles, bands and formations ( Trumpets in Concert, The Art of Trumpet Vienna, Imperial Fanfares, Attitude, blue d'Anube and others) in the field of classical music without limits:

In 2004 The Art of Trumpet Vienna played the world premiere of the work “Fanfare for Carinthia” by Sir Peter Maxwell Davis as part of the opening act of the Carinthian Summer Festival . The work was written for four trumpets, at the world premiere these were Martin Angerer, Josef Bammer, Lorenz Raab and Leonhard Leeb.

Music management

Leonhard Leeb is the author of books and scientific articles on music management. He did his doctorate on the subject of “The anchoring of artistic work, its administration and legal bases, taking into account the free voting rights of the collecting society in Europe” at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Since 1993 he has been teaching music management at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . At the Institute for Cultural Management he works as a lecturer in the university course in cultural management. He advises freelance musicians, ensembles and professional organizers on conceptual, career, image and awareness-promoting matters. Since 1999 he has been holding regular day seminars Classic Music & Music Business for freelance musicians, employees of artist agencies, cultural offices and concert organizers. Furthermore, he has given lectures on music management, talent promotion and artist development at further education institutions and music universities etc. a. Mozarteum Salzburg , University of Music and Theater Hanover . He gives further lectures on sponsoring at the Institute for Cultural Management in Vienna, culture u. Management Center St. Marienkirchen / Polsenz and Culture & Management, University of Budapest. In 1996 he developed a sponsorship concept for the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He also gives lectures on copyright and the like. a. Austrian Composers' Day 2014.

Compositions

  • Inaugurial Fanfare - For the inauguration of the Federal President Dr. Heinz Fischer on July 8, 2010 in parliament in front of the fully occupied National and Federal Council, this work was broadcast live by ORF2. This was the second time that Leonhard Leeb was invited to provide the musical accompaniment to the swearing-in ceremony of Federal President Dr. Heinz Fischer in parliament. It took place for the first time on July 8, 2004.
  • Wrapped in Mystery - the joint mourning session of the National Council and the Federal Council on the occasion of the death of Federal President Dr. The Austrians were also able to follow Thomas Klestil live on ORF2 on July 8, 2004. On this occasion, Wrapped in Mystery, a composition by The Art of Trumpet Vienna, premiered.
  • Fanfare for SD Prince Hans-Adam II. From and to Liechtenstein - On the occasion of SD Prince Hans-Adam II's 65th birthday, this fanfare was premiered at the opening of the special exhibition "The Prince as a collector" in 2010 in the Lichtenstein Museum.
