Leonhard Marstaller
Leonhard Marstaller (* 1488 in Nuremberg ; † 1546 in Freising ) was a Catholic theologian during the Reformation .
Marstaller studied at the universities in Ingolstadt , Paris and Vienna and received his doctorate in 1519 as a doctor of theology. Influenced and supported by Johannes Eck , he became a professor at the then highly respected University of Ingolstadt in the same year . Marstaller held the office of dean and rector numerous times, but overall he remained in Eck's shadow. After his death, Marstaller became Pro-Chancellor of the university and tried hard to maintain its importance as a spiritual center of the Counter-Reformation . Marstaller was also canon of Eichstätt until his death .
