Leonhard Murr

Leonhard Murr (born August 22, 1896 in Moosbach ; † October 2, 1967 there ) was a German politician of the FDP .

Life and work

Murr, who was of Protestant faith, came from a farming family who had immigrated to Central Franconia from Austria in the 17th century and have since been running the Widdumhof in Moosbach. After attending elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship at the agricultural school. From 1915 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier . He then worked in agriculture. In 1924 he took over his parents' Widdumhof , which had meanwhile become a training company for agricultural and domestic apprentices. Today the farm is one of the largest potato seed farms.

Murr was district chairman in the Bavarian farmers' association for the district of Ansbach .

Political party

Murr joined the FDP Bavaria after the Second World War and became deputy chairman of the district association Ansbach city ​​and country. He was also a member of the district board for Middle Franconia .

Murr was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1965 .
