Leonhard Usteri

Leonhard Usteri (born October 22, 1799 in Zurich ; † September 18, 1833 in Bern ) was a Swiss Reformed theologian and rector of the Zurich high school.

Leonhard Usteri was the son of the Zurich professor of the Hebrew language and canon Leonhard Usteri (1769–1853) and the grandson of the theologian and educator Leonhard Usteri (1741–1789).

After completing his basic training in Zurich, he studied theology there and was ordained a pastor. However, he did not take a position, but moved to Berlin in 1820, where he became a student of Friedrich Daniel Ernst Schleiermacher . In 1823 he returned to Zurich and became professor and rector of the grammar school.
