Leonhard von Fels

Leonhard von Fels (* 1497 , † in the  16th century ) was the Habsburg chief steward .

Leonhard von was a nephew of the future chancellor Bernhard von Cles . He participated in the defense of Vienna in the Turkish Wars in 1529 and was appointed Supreme Field Marshal in 1530 for his services . In 1537 he took the position of chief field captain in Hungary , where he achieved success in the fight against the Turks. In 1539 he was appointed chief steward to succeed Wilhelm von Roggendorf , with whom he, like Hans Hofmann von Grünbühel , had worked together politically in previous years. He probably represented anti-papal and anti - Spanish policies. Fels was fluent in Italian .
