Leonid Michailowitsch Roschal ( Russian Леонид Михайлович Рошаль , scientific transliteration Leonid Michajlovič Rošal ' ; born April 27, 1933 in Liwny , Oryol Oblast ) is a recognized Russian pediatrician and an expert of the World Health Organization , chairman of the World Health Organization International Committee on Disaster and a member of the human rights Commission , which President Putin advises.

Life

Leonid Roshal was born on April 27, 1933 in Livnyy in the central Russian region of Oryol. His father worked in the army. Roshal received a doctorate in medicine in Moscow and became a pediatrician and surgeon. In 1988 his first assignment was as a disaster relief worker in the earthquake region of Armenia . In the same year he then founded the International Committee for Aid to Children in Disasters and War . As part of this committee, he helped injured children around the world:

Roshal has spoken out against the war in Chechnya and the arrest of Mikhail Khodorkovsky . At the request of the hostage takers, he acted as an agent in the hostage-taking in Moscow's Dubrovka Theater in 2002 and in the Beslan hostage-taking in 2004 .

Dr. Roshal is an avowed homophobe . At a press conference in the Russian Parliament in 2013, when asked about his view of the Gay Propaganda Act , he replied that he was being brief. "I hate gays and everything about them"
