Leonid Alfonsowitsch Ostrovsky ( Russian : Леонид Альфонсович Островский, Ukrainian : Леонід Альфонсович Островський * 17th January 1936 in Riga , Latvia ; † 17th April 2001 in Kiev , Ukraine ) was a Soviet football player at the position of a defender .

career

Ostrowski began his career as an adult footballer with his hometown club Daugava Riga. In 1956 he moved to the Russian capital to Torpedo Moscow , with whom he became Soviet football champion in 1960 and won the Soviet football cup .

Ostrowski then played in the Ukrainian capital for Dynamo Kiev and won the championship title three times (1966, 1967 and 1968) and the cup competition twice (1964 and 1966).

National team

Ostrowski was in three successive soccer world championships ( 1958 , 1962 and 1966 ) in the squad of the national soccer team of the USSR . While he remained without use in 1958, he was used in all four games of Sbornaja in 1962 and in the preliminary round games against North Korea (3-0) and Chile (2-1).
