Leonid Solomonowitsch Mamut ( Russian Леонид Соломонович Мамут ; born June 9, 1929 , † May 15, 2015 ) was a Soviet lawyer and constitutional lawyer .

Life

Mamut graduated from the Moscow Institute of Law in 1951. He then worked as a legal advisor. In 1961, at the Institute for State and Law (IGP) of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR, from 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)) , he defended his candidate dissertation on the emergence of the theory of the state by Karl Marx . He then became a lecturer at the All Union Legal Institute for Distance Learning .

From 1966 Mamut worked in the IGP. In 1977 he defended his doctoral dissertation on current historical-theoretical problems in the theory of the state by Karl Marx. The appointment as professor followed.

In 1990 Mamut became an expert member of the Constitutional Commission of the People's Deputies Congress . He is considered to be one of the authors of the Constitution of the Russian Federation alongside Anatoly Alexandrowitsch Sobchak , Sergei Sergejewitsch Alexejew and Sergei Michailowitsch Shachrai . In 1993 he was the representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Constituent Assembly . In 1994 he was honored as Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation . Later the law in the welfare state became a focus of work.

Mamut's son is the lawyer , banker and investor Alexander Leonidowitsch Mamut .
