IC 3388 is a dwarf galaxy of the Hubble-type dE in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 74 million light years from the Milky Way and about 15,000 light years across. Together with eight other galaxies, it forms the NGC 4461 group ( LGG 286 ) and is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 1104 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4425 , NGC 4435 , NGC 4438 , IC 3393 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 10, 1904 .
