IC 3393 is a lenticular dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type SO / a in the constellation Virgo at the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 19 million light years from the Milky Way and about 7,000 ly in diameter. It is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VCC 1122 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4438 , NGC 4443 , IC 3386 , IC 3388 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 10, 1904 .
