Volker Wulff

Volker Wulff (born January 7, 1957 in Bremen ) is a German farmer , agricultural scientist and entrepreneur .

Life

Volker Wulff grew up on his parents' farm in Uthlede , where horses were also bred. After graduating from secondary school, he did agricultural training and continued to work in the profession until 1982. After that, he passed the examination to enable him to study at a university. He then completed a degree in agricultural sciences with a focus on animal production, which he graduated in 1987 with a diploma.

During his studies, Volker Wulff got to know the then general secretary of the German Equestrian Association , Hanfried Haring . Through this contact, Volker Wulff got the chance to accompany nine horses for the Korean team to South Korea in preparation for the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul .

From 1987 several activities followed for the association for the promotion of the Oldenburg horse in Vechta under the direction of Uwe Heckmann. From 1988 to August 1992 Volker Wulff was in building a marketing agency involved and there later than with shareholders involved.

1990s

In 1992 he founded his event agency. The first events were tournaments in Jüterbog and the Hermann Schridde memory tournament in Winsen / Aller , Gera , Luhmühlen , Linz and Vienna in Austria. At the same time, Wulff worked with his agency for the German Volleyball Association and the World Rowing Association (marketing the World Championships in Prague (CZE) and Tampere (FIN) ).

In 1998 Volker Wulff started the partner horse in the New Leipzig Trade Fair . In the same year there was a second premiere with the international tournament Munich Indoors in Munich's Olympic Hall . In 1999, in the course of the agency's growth, more than ten permanent employees were employed for the first time.

2000s

In 2000 the agency was asked to take over the German show jumping and dressage derby in Hamburg as the organizer. A branch was established in the Hanseatic city for this purpose.

The previous national tournament in Leipzig - the partner horse - became the venue for the FEI Show Jumping World Cup final in 2002. After that, the partner horse became a permanent venue for World Cup tests in jumping and driving. In 2003 a new tournament was established in Paderborn: From 2006 the Paderborn Challenge was also part of the Riders Tour . Also in 2003, Volker Wulff organized the first five-star tournament outside of Europe and the United States in Kuala Lumpur ( Malaysia ). The tournament later managed to host the FEI World Cup final.

In 2005, Volker Wulff and his agency took over the entire organization including all marketing measures and the acquisition of sponsors at the German Gallop Derby in Hamburg-Horn at short notice . With a total budget of 5.5 million euros, a total of around 150,000 visitors were welcomed to Hamburg-Horn , and various public and private TV stations reported a total of eight hours on the highest endowed German group race in horse racing.

A year later, the FEI Show Jumping World Cup final took place in Kuala Lumpur for the first time . In addition, Volker Wulff was involved in the organizers of the Advent tournament in Dresden . As a result, the tournament was announced internationally for the first time in 2006.

Since 2008 the Wulff Global Champions Tour has been cooperating , which places one of its stations on the German Show Jumping and Dressage Derby . A year later, the three-week Tour Gera Summer Meeting was launched.

2010s

In 2010 Volker Wulff's agency supported the Qatar International Showjumping in Abu Dhabi ( UAE ) on the recommendation of the FEI .

In 2011, the partner horse made history and was the first venue ever to hold four FEI World Cup finals under one roof: jumping , dressage , team driving and the very first world cup final for vaulters . In the same year, Volker Wulff and his agency took over the organization of the Bundeschampionate in Warendorf .

In cooperation with the Chinese partner agency CNSI (China National Sports International), Volker Wulff brought the World Cup to China . The well-known FEI World Cup series FEI World Cup Jumping China League is introduced for the federations of China, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong, so that their riders also have the opportunity to qualify for the annual FEI World Cup ™ Final in show jumping .

The Peterhof Dressage Gala , a four-star CDI , was born in 2012 at the Peterhof Stud in Perl-Borg . In the following two years, the Junior Cup was established for North, East, South and West Germany, a show jumping series for U21 riders.

In 2015, Volker Wulff was one of the initiators and founding members of the Horse for Our Children Association , which has set itself the task of getting children excited about horses and enabling them to deal with the subject of horses in a playful way from their early development.

In 2017, Wullf and his company entered into a joint venture with a Dutch company, which is now holding a new tournament in the capital: the international five-star tournament Global Jumping Berlin . Berlin thus became another stop on the Global Champions Tour (GCT) and the Global Champions League.

Awards

In 2018 Wulff was awarded the Saxon Order of Merit. He received this award for his voluntary work, especially for children in the areas of extracurricular education and equestrian sports. Among other things, Wulff is a member of the foundation of “Leipzig helps children” and a founding member of “Horses for our children”. V. ".

Private

Volker Wulff is married and has two daughters.
