The Gera-Milbitz riding stadium is an equestrian facility in the Milbitz district of Gera , Milbitzer Strasse 34 - located directly on the White Elster . The Thuringian state riding and driving school is attached to the facility.

From 1990 to 1994 the Nations Cup tournament of the GDR (which at that time no longer existed) was held in Gera . In 1994, the equestrian event agency EN GARDE Marketing from Uthlede took over the organization of the annual horse show.

So far the German championships in dressage and show jumping have taken place four times in the stadium - in 1995, 1998, 2003 and 2007. The Gera International tournament, held annually in Milbitz, was part of the Riders Tour from 2001 to 2005 .

After the German Championship 2007 in Gera was described as a flop or farce due to the absence of many German top riders, the organizer of the Gera horse shows changed the concept. After a year as a national tournament (2008), from 2009 to 2012 the actual main event, the Gera International (a CSI 3 *), was preceded by two more tournament weeks, which were held as CSI 1 *. This tournament series, which was marketed as the Gera Summer Meeting , was based on other European tournament series at a uniform venue such as the Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera or the Toscana Tour in Arezzo .

In 2013, the international tournaments in Gera were canceled due to a lack of financial resources. The great flood in the summer of 2013 flooded the facility; it was over a meter high in riding arenas and stable boxes. This flooding caused damage to the statics of the stands, and the foundations of the roofs rose. Therefore, the grandstands will be demolished in October 2015. The remaining riding arena is to be protected by a flood protection wall.
