Leopold Simperl

Leopold Simperl (born April 7, 1942 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and managing director. He was a member of the Federal Council from 1989 to 1991 .

education and profession

Simperl completed compulsory school and then learned the profession of painter, house painter and varnisher. Simperl attended vocational school at the same time. To this end, he completed various courses and seminars between 1964 and 1971. Simperl also attended the social academy of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees in Hinterbrühl from 1970 to 1971 and trained as an extraordinary student at the University of Vienna . He also passed the vocational matriculation examination and subsequently studied economics, journalism and political science. In 1980 he completed his studies with a doctorate in social and economic sciences ( Dr. rer. Soc. Oec. ). Professionally, Simperl worked as a painter, house painter and varnisher. He was also the management coordinator in the marketing department and from 1984 managing director of the Getreidewirtschaftsfonds.

Politics and functions

Leopold Simperl joined the Socialist Party of Austria in 1967 and became a member of the Federal Party Council of the Socialist Party in 1983. From 1989 he was also a member of the district committee of the SPÖ Wien- Meidling and, as a club member, was a member of the Socialist parliamentary group in the Vienna State Parliament and in the Vienna City Council. Furthermore, from 1989 he was chairman of the union of food and luxury goods workers and a member of the federal board of the Austrian trade union federation. He also acted as chairman of the Austrian Federation of Trade Union Integration Committee EG-EFTA and chairman of the international ÖGB committee. From December 15, 1989 to December 8, 1991 Simperl represented the Social Democratic Party of Vienna in the Austrian Federal Council. Simperl was last elected chairman in 2001 on the 3rd trade union day of the agricultural-food-enjoyment union with 99.2. In 2003 Simperl was elected to the Board of Directors of Agrarmarkt Austria .
