Leopold Weiss (politician)

Leopold Weiss (born November 9, 1903 in Lassee , † November 5, 1991 in Hainburg ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer . Weiss was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1954 to 1969 .

After finishing elementary school, Weiss attended the rural technical school in Obersiebenbrunn and took over the family business in 1931. He was elected chairman of the district farmers' council in 1936 and was also a councilor. After the Second World War, Weiss was ÖVP main district party chairman in Gänserndorf between 1953 and 1962 and was chairman of the Lower Austrian beet farmers' association between 1961 and 1973. In addition, he was President of the Association of Austrian Beet Growing Organizations from 1962 to 1974 and Chairman of the Austrian Sugar Research Institute from 1968 to 1971. Weiss represented the ÖVP from November 10, 1954 to November 20, 1969 in the state parliament and was its president from November 19, 1964 . Weiss was awarded the professional title of Economics Council.
