Leopold Wißgrill
Leopold Wißgrill (* probably 1701 in Markl near Windigsteig , Lower Austria ; † around 1770) was a master mason and builder of the Baroque era .
Live and act
Leopold Wißgrill comes from a family of master masons working in St. Pölten . He was a student of the famous baroque master builder Jakob Prandtauer . In Altenburg , he worked to 1737 as polishing under Joseph Munggenast . The Wißgrill, still referred to as a master mason, later worked as a builder. However, he could never step out of the shadows of Prandtauer or Munggenast, whose work he partially completed or carried out in their style. His oeuvre includes numerous sacred buildings in the Waldviertel . Among other things, he worked with Paul Troger at the Maria Dreieichen pilgrimage church . Wißgrill lived in Horn , where an alley is named after him.
