Leopold Wolfgang Rochowanski

Leopold Wolfgang Rochowanski (born August 3, 1888 in Zuckmantel , † September 13, 1961 in Vienna ) was an Austrian journalist, writer and publisher.

Rochowanski was born as the son of a notary in what was then the Austrian part of Silesia . He studied philosophy and law in Vienna and in 1913 got a position as editor of the Illustrierte Wiener Extrablatt . From 1917 he worked as a correspondent for foreign newspapers in the "Central Correspondenz Wien", in 1920 he wrote a volume of poetry in Munich . Rochowanski was also active in the artistic propaganda association “Der Bücherkasten” in the interwar period and from 1921 worked for the “Prager Presse”. On 1923/24 he was head of the Thyrsons publishing house. After the National Socialists came to power, Rochowanski was banned from publishing, and after the end of the World War he founded Agathon Verlag. He was also active as a newspaper critic until his death.

Rochowanski lived in the Klose-Hof and published a commemorative publication for the 80th birthday of the architect Josef Hoffmann .
