Leopold von Stoll
Leopold von Stoll (actually Leopold van Stoll, 1808 - 1889 ) was a flower painter of Dutch descent who mainly worked in Austria.
Around 1828 he worked in Cracow and Warsaw . Around 1830 he came to Saint Petersburg , where he dealt with flower compositions for the Botanical Garden. In 1834 he came to Austria, where around 1836 he painted a still life with the Schönbrunn statue of the nymph Egeria in the background. His works - almost exclusively still lifes with flowers and fruits - brought him great recognition, it was only after 1848 that the public's taste changed and he received fewer orders.
