Leorin is a town on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay and is therefore administratively part of the Argyll and Bute Council Area . Leorin is located in southern Islay about 1.7 km north of Port Ellen and twelve kilometers south of Bowmore , the island's capital. The village can be reached via the B8016. To the north, the Leorin River , a tributary of the Kintra River , passes the village, which flows out of the Leorin Lochs a few kilometers southeast .
Today there are only a few Leorin's houses still inhabited. In 1841 there were still 41 people living in Leorin, divided into five families. Of these, 23 were female and 18 male. Leorin is not explicitly listed in the current census. A settlement to the east called Upper Leorin was also included in the village, but it has since been abandoned. The buildings there are partially dilapidated.
