The Kintra River is a river on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay .
The river runs through the peaty regions in the south of the island north of the Oa peninsula . It is created by the confluence of the Leorin River , which flows out of the Leorin Lochs , with the Abhainn Airigh Bhaile-Chaluim creek about a hundred meters west of the A846 on its way from Port Ellen to Bowmore . The Kintra River flows to the west and takes in the outflow of Loch nan Gabhar on its course near the Machrie Hotel . Near the coast, the Kintra River describes several loops and finally flows near the village of Kintra into Laggan Bay , a side bay of Loch Indaal .
